About Axel Miret
About Axel Miret

Born in Brussels, Belgium in 1956, Miret is a self-taught painter who has concentrated on developing a special pastel technique and also works in other media, such as charcoal, acrylics and oils.

The atmospheric and brooding quality of Miret’s work explores the emotional and spiritual needs of the human condition, needs which often go unfulfilled in present times. It bears witness to what the artist calls “the Famine of the Heart.”

His recent work shows a change of direction towards the use of a more surreal imagery. Although he also works in colour, he is a specialist in the use of black and white.

Miret is a full member of the Pastel Society of Ireland.
